Novel Films Blogfest

Thanks to Madeleine at Scribble and Edit for hosting this blogfest. It has been quite a journey through the memory banks, a little dim and dusty at times, but here are a few highlights. There are, I have no doubt, many many more that I could have added to the list, and indeed many more that really ought to be on the list, but these are the ones that I can bring to mind. If your favourites are not here, then do remind me of them in your comments!

It will be of no surprise to you that the novels listed here display a distinct lean towards the fantasy and science fiction spectrum, with a healthy nod towards the crime/mystery/suspense genre. I shall have a look around some of your lists later - perhaps I might get some ideas to broaden my horizons!

  2. Well, your memory seems to be very good, Dom, and I'm delighted to know a man who has read Austen and Bronte and admits it on his blog for all the world to see. Wonderful.

  3. No surprise at all they are mostly of that genre. The Hobbit is still sixteen months away - too long!

  4. Hi Dom. I can't wait to see Peter Jackson's Hobbit when it's out. That reminds me - I must take another look at his blog. I know the film will be as good as the three LOTR films and that's hard to beat.

    Great list!

  5. Great list. Love the suggestions for films that could be made too. I have seen Hogfather and The Colour of Magic but haven't read the books and wasn't that keen on the adaptations though 'Going Postal' was fab and I want to read it now. Thanks for taking part. It's been fun :O)

  6. That's a great list, thanks for sharing in the blogfest. I think that you might like to read some of my thoughts on how to turn 9 science fiction and fantasy books into great movies.

And, if you get a chance, check out a fellow writer's zombie story and help me make him wear an embarrassing shirt next year! It's the ultimate grudge match between social media and the zombies. Details are here:

  7. I love Terry Pratchett's books; I'll have to get around to watching the movies! I only learned there were ones from this blogfest.

    Great list!

  8. Great list! I'm going to save it to make sure I've seen the movies (yay Netflix).

I would add Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The movie is rather pointless unless you've read the book.
